Rooster is celebrating 20 years in Fiji with a writing competition for Primary and Secondary school students.

Prizes

8 winning students will receive $500 each. Four primary student and four secondary student winners:

  • Lower primary – years 1 to 4 (x2 winners)
  • Upper primary – years 5 to 8 (x2 winners)
  • Lower secondary – years 9 to 10 (x2 winners)
  • Upper secondary – years 11 to 13 (x2 winners)

Writing Submissions

Because the competition is open to primary and secondary school students, all entries must be submitted by a parent or guardian on their behalf. Students should not submit entries directly.

All entries must be handwritten with clear and legible writing. Submissions can be uploaded as a clear photo in either JPG / PNG format or as a scanned PDF. Entries will be captured within a secure backend database.

  1. Promoter

The promoter of this competition is Rooster Poultry, referred to in these Terms and Conditions as “Rooster” or “the Promoter”.

 

  1. Competition Name

The competition is called the Proudly Fijian, Proudly Yours Writing Competition and forms part of Rooster Poultry’s 20th Anniversary Celebration.

 

  1. Competition Period

Entries open on Monday, 20 July (9 am) and close on Friday, 21 August (5pm).

The review and judging period will take place throughout September.

Winners will be announced on Monday, 28 September, unless otherwise advised by Rooster.

Entries received after the closing date will not be accepted.

 

  1. Eligibility

This competition is open to all primary and secondary students in Fiji.

Because the competition involves primary and secondary students, all entries must be submitted by a parent or guardian on their behalf. Students should not submit entries directly.

The submitting adult is responsible for confirming that all information provided is accurate.

Employees, contractors, suppliers, agencies and immediate family members of Rooster or any party directly involved in administering or judging the competition are not eligible to enter.

 

  1. How to Enter

To enter, a parent or guardian must submit the student’s writing entry through the official online campaign form on the Rooster website.

Each student should submit one entry only. The submitting adult must complete all required fields, confirm consent and upload the student’s entry.

If multiple entries are submitted for the same student, only the first valid entry received will be considered. All entries must include both adult submitter and student details. Incomplete entries will be rejected.

 

  1. Writing Requirements

Students must write under the theme “Proudly Fijian, Proudly Yours.

Only handwritten entries are accepted, provided the writing is clear and legible. Handwritten entries can be submitted as a clear photo or scanned PDF. Entries must not exceed the maximum word count of 300.

Rooster reserves the right to reject any entry that is unclear, unreadable, incomplete, corrupted or cannot be properly assessed by the judging panel.

 

  1. Assistance 

Students may receive guidance from parents or guardians.

Rooster reserves the right to reject entries that appear copied, inappropriate, offensive, irrelevant, falsely submitted or inconsistent with the spirit of the competition.

 

  1. Consent

The submitting adult must confirm that the student has permission to participate. If the student is selected as a winner, Rooster may request further parent or guardian consent before using the student’s name, image, school name, voice, video, written work or other identifying details in public campaign material.

Rooster reserves the right to reject any entry where it reasonably believes the entry was submitted directly by a student or without appropriate adult consent.

 

  1. Judging

Entries will be judged by a panel appointed by Rooster. Judging will consider:

  • relevance to the theme
  • creativity and effort
  • word count adherence

All judging decisions are final, and no further communication concerning the outcome of the competition will be considered.

 

  1. Winner Selection

All entries must be submitted with the approval of a parent or guardian. Rooster will contact the parent or guardian to verify consent before an entry is awarded. Any entry that cannot be verified will be disqualified.

 

  1. Winner Notification

Winners will be contacted using the details provided at entry. If a winner cannot be contacted within three (3) working days, or does not provide required verification, Rooster may select another winner. Rooster is not responsible for incorrect contact details submitted.

 

  1. Use of Entries and Publicity

By entering, the parent or guardian agrees that Rooster may use the submitted entry for competition administration, judging and campaign-related purposes.

Winning entries will be featured across Rooster’s social media channels and future promotional materials, subject to the necessary permissions and consent being obtained.

 

  1. Disqualification

Rooster will disqualify any entry that:

  • is submitted late
  • is incomplete
  • contains false or misleading information
  • exceeds the allowed word limit
  • does not meet eligibility requirements
  • does not follow the writing theme
  • contains offensive, unsafe, discriminatory or inappropriate content
  • appears copied, fabricated or falsely submitted
  • may bring Rooster, the school or the competition into disrepute

 

  1. Competition Integrity

Rooster reserves the right to verify entries, request additional information, confirm parent / guardian consent and reject any entry that may affect the fairness or integrity of the competition.

Rooster may amend, suspend or cancel the competition if circumstances outside its control affect the fair or proper running of the competition.

Any changes will be communicated through Rooster’s official channels.

 

  1. Liability

Rooster will not be liable for any loss, damage, delay, technical issue, incomplete submission, failed upload, incorrect information or communication failure connected with participation in the competition.

Uploaded files must not be password-protected, corrupted, unsafe or contain unrelated content. Rooster may reject any file that cannot be opened or safely reviewed.

 

  1. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an entry, the parent / guardian confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

Rooster Poultry will collect the information submitted through this form for the purpose of administering the Proudly Fijian, Proudly Yours Writing Competition, which forms part of Rooster Poultry’s 20th Anniversary Celebration.

Because this competition is open to primary and secondary school students, all entries must be submitted by a parent or guardian on behalf of the student. Students should not submit entries directly.

The information collected will include the adult submitter’s name, contact number, email address and relationship to the student. It will also include the student’s name, year level, school name, town or province, and submitted writing entry.

Rooster will use this information only to receive and manage entries, verify eligibility, judge submissions, contact the submitting adult if an entry is selected, award prizes, and prepare approved winner announcements.

Rooster will not collect student phone numbers, home addresses, or other unnecessary personal details. Rooster will not publish either the adult submitter or child’s private contact details.

If a student’s entry is selected as a winner, Rooster will contact the parent or guardian to confirm consent before using the student’s name, image, school name, voice, video, written work or other identifying details in public campaign material.

Submitted entries and personal information will only be accessed by authorised persons involved in administering, judging or managing the competition. Rooster will take reasonable steps to keep the information secure and protect it from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.

By completing this form, the adult submitter confirms that they are submitting the entry on behalf of the student and that the information provided is accurate.

Personal information will be kept only for as long as reasonably required to administer the competition, complete prize handovers, manage approved publicity and meet reasonable recordkeeping needs.
